Resistance and Relay
When we take a step towards modifying some aspect of our custom， doubts seem to appear. In the light department， manufacturing details that can directly affect its operation must be taken into account. For that reason， Customacces wants to help you clarify some doubts.
Most motorcycles use bimetallic relays and their frequency is what sets the rhythm of the activation of the turn signals， based on the amperage that circulates through the circuit. When adding after market turn signals， we must take into account that its power can be different and therefore we change the amperage. This detail will change the flashing frequency of the turn signals as long as we talk about bimetallic relays.
If， on the other hand， our custom has electronic relays， this relationship is different. The flashing frequency is independent of the amperage and therefore its activation speed will not change when the flashers are modified.
＊ Note： If we are not sure what type of relay our motorcycle is using， we recommend that you mount new turn signals and look at the frequencies （both old and new）.
Another detail to take into account is the type of bulb， if the stock parts use incandescent bulbs we must check that they have the same power. If they are different， it is necessary to change that bulb to one that offers the same power and that you can also find in our Customacces catalog. If we decide to opt for LED lights， which have much lower power than the incandescent， it will be necessary to balance the force of the flashing as follows：
1. Add a resistor in both the right and left circuits. You can find those parts in our catalog， which are supplied with a circuit diagram for their parallel connection.
＊ Note： The mounting of these resistors can affect the correct operation of the emergency lights （warning）.
2. The second step will be to identify the flasher relay of our custom， both its location and the number of pins. This relay must be replaced by the appropriate one depending on its power and that you can find in our catalog. By changing this part， we will solve the problem of warnings in most custom models.
＊ Note： In our market there are custom models that do not have a specific flasher relay， so it will be impossible to replace it. Likewise， if more than one relay is involved in the operation of the flashing， it is possible that the replacement of a single relay does not solve this problem.
